BGRA INC. Annual General Meeting (AGM) Monday July 29, 730pm.
30 Turquoise Loop Banksia Grove. If you are keen to be involved in making Banksia Grove an even better place to live please join us at our AGM to hear what has been happening over the last year and see how you can get involved going forward. The Committee positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will all be declared vacant open for nominations. https://www.facebook.com/groups/238034969669501/ is the link for the Banksia Grove Residents Association Facebook Page. There are over 250 people using the page now to help each other out and be in contact with other locals. If you're a facebook user it's worth a look. We are registered for Clean Up Banksia Grove on Sunday MAY 19 (Not the March national date as it's usually too hot and a long weekend)
http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/bgrainc is where you can pre-register, or you can register on the day. Meet at the Banksia Grove Centre from 9.30am to collect your bags and register. If you would like to be involved but can't make it on the day I can drop some bags around to you, if we each just did along our own street we could make a massive difference! The BGRA are planning to hold meetings once a term around the middle of each school term.
Our first meeting for 2013 will be Tuesday March 19, 7.30pm at the Westlakes home, 30 Turquoise Loop. All Banksia Grove residents are welcome to join us. If you have a project or issue you would like to raise please contact Chris Nelson via e-mail bgranews@hotmail.com or by phone 0416 025 578 so I can add it to the agenda. Answers to residents queries as requested
1. Post Box: Can you please chase up a post box for BG residents, somewhere handy near the main flow for both sides of BG - say where the old sales office is? When the old one was removed, we kind of assumed there would be a replacement. The City of Wanneroo have advised that the Post Box will be located on Tumbleweed Drive adjacent to the shops. (Robbie from Australia Post 0419768306). 2. Toilets: We probably need them near the amphitheater in Discovery Park. There are no plans for toilets within the Linear POS at this stage. When events are held hire of toilets will need to be considered (were hired for Red Dog but didn’t arrive). If the area does start to host a high number of events then permanent amenities may be worth considering 3. Big Hole at the north end of Viridian Dv. Residents are wondering why they have the Grand Canyon opening up before them, and what the longer term outlook is. The existing drainage sump has been extended to accommodate the run off from roads in the existing and new development. It is currently being fenced and will be landscaped and revegetated. Revegetation is to be achieved through winter tube stock planting with native species. 4.Support for CREW protecting the Gnangara mound. Can you give weight / are you giving weight to this good cause? The development lodged a submission with the WA Planning Commission but have not received a response. 5. Shopping Centre timeline An amended planning approval is being developed. At this stage we hope to commence construction in 2013/2014 financial year. Hope this helps Regards Brad Goodlet Manager Community Development Here are some local concerns residents are asking about.
If you are likewise concerned, please add your comments / voice. 1. Post Box: A post box for BG residents, somewhere handy near the main flow for both sides of BG - say where the old sales office is? When the old one was removed, we kind of assumed there would be a replacement, so... 2. Toilets: We probably need them near the amphitheater in Discovery Park. (They are not impossible to look after, since we do have public toilets at Peridot oval.) 3. Big Hole at the north end of Viridian Dv. Residents are wondering why they have the Grand Canyon opening up before them, and what the longer term outlook is. 4. BGP support for CREW protecting the Gnangara mound. Can Banksia Grove Partnership (developers) give weight / are they giving weight to this good cause? 5. BG Shopping Center: When will the BG shopping center be built. First Carramar, now Ashby has leapfrogged us with their's going ahead. We need a fuel station (last stop before the country road). 6. CATRA Rumour: An idea has been floated about joining with CATRA (the Carramar Tapping Residents Association.) But there are reasons against this as well as for. Many ideas don't make it. So if this worries or excites you, let us know. This is your association. Any other matters? Let us know. |
